Multiple Guru Overload
I’m overwhelmed. I’m listening to too many gurus and am having to stop listening, take a step back and figure out what style of marketing I wish to pursue.
One guru is all about site authority, and once you have that, sell the site to someone who wants it because of its authority for $$$$, profit from the monetization of the site (it’s products and ads) is insignificant.
One guru is all about the social media side, become a celebrity and sell everything from one blog area. Be a reporter, not an expert. I like the simplicity of having one blog area, one main mailing list, but I’m not really a social animal, although I’m learning. Creating videos is fantastic for marketing and I have some video ideas, I also like the not needing to be the authority part of this style. However, this concept needs constant upkeep, and I don’t enjoy the social scene. I would get worn out by this method.
One guru says to create a blog site, and several other insignificant sites and link them together to point to your money site. I could do this. Some concepts he uses don’t feel good to me, so there are some parts of his teaching that I’m skipping. I don’t like following a mentor that I feel the need to censor in this fashion.
One guru says create a bunch of small sites which are highly targeted and go directly to product offerings. I like the straightforward concept here. I don’t want to waste my time blogging without any real monetary function.
I blog here as it fits me the best of my many blog areas. I am “made of” the desire to be free from an employer. You understand that I am working with various niches and I am free to be myself in this forum as I expect that you are here because you want financial independence as well.
A subject that came up today was the importance of knowing how to handle your money. If I and my husband were bank owners, we would provide financial coaching to our clients rather than a toaster or other physical gift. I plan to see what financial management information I can find to provide here.
